A COMMUNITY-BASED FRIEND-STIVAL

HATCHFEST is a micro-festival celebrating community, creativity, and collective joy.

We have an excellent lineup of musicians, opportunities for everyone to showcase their talents, and plenty of ways to participate if being on stage isn’t your thing—crafts, movement, games, and surprises.

This is an experiment rooted in mutual care, curiosity, and shared imagination.

THE BASICS

HATCHFEST will take place on June 13th from 10am-10:30pm. Take a look at the DRAFT schedule, which is subject to change.

This is a micro-festival, which means it’s designed to be very intimate—around 100 people.

THE NUTHATCH is a 20-acre forest- and meadow-scape outside White Salmon, Washington. Exact location will be provided to ticket holders; it is approximately 1.5 hours from Portland.

Because of its remote location and micro vibes, you’ll want to come prepared and practice a pack it in / pack it out ethos.

FAQ

What kind of music will I hear at HATCHFEST?

There will be a variety of musical acts ranging from singer-songwriter rounds, jazz funk, doom folk, bluegrass, orchestral indie pop, percussive ensembles, indie folk, live looping, and groove-forward electronic music. There will also be an open mic and ample opportunities for impromptu campfire jams if you feel inspired to participate!

HATCHFEST is equal parts on-stage performance and in-the-moment creative magic. We hope people come together and create music in unplanned and unscripted ways.

What can I expect besides really awesome music?

  • Nature magic: The Nuthatch includes a completely secluded meadow with Mount Hood views (weather permitting). June is often peak wildflower season. There’s a hammock forest a short hike from the main stage. There are ferns everywhere.

  • Playfulness and new friends: In addition to music, our schedule will include games, crafts, and movement workshops. This is a MICRO-festival, meaning it will be intimate and designed for building connection.

  • Really good food. More on that below.

  • Port-a-potties: We’ll make sure we have enough for everyone.

Will there be on-site camping?

On-site camping at the Nuthatch property is limited to performers and volunteers. Limited camping will be available Saturday night at neighboring properties (a 5-10 minute walk from the festival site on a secluded country road). If you are interested in securing a camping spot, send us an email; they will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for $15/tent. We encourage attendees to check out other nearby camping, HipCamp, AirBNBs, or the Society Hotel in Bingen. Plan ahead, as things start to fill up moving into the summer.

Will there be food and drinks for sale on site?

HATCHFEST is strictly BYOB (and BYOCooler). Saturday lunch (catered by The Nuthatch) and dinner (catered by DesiPDX) are available for purchase, and must be purchased by May 31st (no on-site sale of food). View the food menu here.

We will have potable water on-site and will provide limited non-alcoholic beverages with meals. There will be no additional on-site sale of food or beverages. You are welcome to bring your own cooler with snacks and picnic foods.

Can I bring my kids? What about my dogs?

  • Kids are welcome at HATCHFEST, and kids under 10 can come for free (though meals must be purchased for them). Please let us know when purchasing your tickets if you’re bringing children. Also, please note that you are fully responsible for your kids and we will not be providing any form of childcare.

  • No, you can not bring your dogs. Sorry.

What should I bring?

  • A comfy blanket or camping chair. Hammocks also welcome.

  • Sun protection.

  • Sturdy shoes are recommended if you want to explore the property. No bare feet allowed.

  • Water bottle.

  • A plate and silverware, maybe even a napkin! We will have disposable dishware on-hand for purchased meals, but using your own is preferred.

  • Cooler with beverages, snacks, or any additional food you might want. Use of small gas-powered camping stoves will be allowed in designated areas, but no open fires are permitted.

  • Instruments!

That’s a lot to bring. Will I have to carry it far?

Parking is available for purchase at neighboring properties, approximately 5-10 minutes walk down a secluded country road. However, you can unload your vehicle at the bottom of the Nuthatch driveway, and we will provide several wagons and some volunteers to help transport your belongings if needed.

How much does HATCHFEST cost, and are there scholarships available?

A HATCHFEST pass is $65, and gets you access to guided movement, music, games, crafts, and nature on Saturday, June 13th from 10am-10:30pm.

Food, parking, and camping are all additional purchases. This is so that we can pay our neighbors (who are graciously offering parking and camping) and give flexibility to those who want to bring their own food.

We do not have scholarships available, but there are limited volunteer opportunities, which will get you a discounted festival pass. You can indicate your interest in volunteering through the registration link.

How do I buy tickets for HATCHFEST?

  1. Click on the link below to access the registration form.

  2. Indicate how many of each pass you want (if buying for yourself and others) as well as your interest in camping and parking. Camping and volunteering spots will go to whoever requests them first.

  3. Once we receive your form, we will follow up within a few days to confirm your total payment due, and whether we can accommodate your camping or volunteer requests. We will include a payment link.

  4. You will have 48 hours from the time you receive confirmation to pay for your passes. If you do not pay within the 48 hours, you may risk forfeiting your spot. Once we have your payment, you’ll be fully confirmed and ready to go!
